When to Replace a Panel vs. the Whole Door
If a single panel is damaged on a door less than 10 years old and replacement panels are still available from the manufacturer, panel replacement saves you hundreds of dollars versus a full new door. If the door is older, the manufacturer has discontinued the style, multiple panels are damaged, or the springs and hardware are also at end of life, a full new door is typically the smarter long-term investment.
Color and Style Matching
We work with Clopay, Wayne Dalton, Amarr, CHI, Martin, and Raynor to source matching panels. For doors that have faded over time we can also recommend professional painting after installation. Bring us a clear photo of the damaged panel and a few feet of the rest of the door and we can usually identify the model.
Insulation Matters
If your existing door is insulated, the replacement panel must match the insulation type and R-value or the door will become harder to lift and your opener will work harder. We always match insulation specs so the door stays perfectly balanced. If your existing door is not insulated this is also a great opportunity to upgrade to an insulated panel for a small premium.
Bottom Panel Replacement
The bottom panel is the one most likely to get damaged by impact, rust, or water intrusion. It also holds the bottom weather seal and the lift cable brackets. We swap the seal, inspect the brackets, and verify cable tension every time we replace a bottom panel.
